Podiatry Associates of Erie introduced Laser Surgery for foot problems to the tri-state area in January of 1985. Common conditions treated are warts, ingrown toenails, fungus nails, and prorkeratosis.
Utilizing the microscopic camera, the doctor can now look directly into the joint for a more complete examination, diagnosis, and treatment of any foot or ankle joint problems.
This procedure is used to treat severe strain of the plantar fascia. If this ligament-like band that runs along the bottom of the foot is strained, it generally causes pain on the inside of the foot where the arch and heel meet. A special scope with a camera is slipped under the fascia and a small incision is made to release the ligament.
These minimal incision surgical procedures have good results with a minimum amount of post-operative pain or discomfort.
Many foot problems require surgery to correct the problem. Reconstructive surgery corrects bunions, hammertoes, and other digital deformities in the forefoot and also in most rearfoot and ankle problems. By addressing and correcting these joints, furthur complications are avoided. During surgery, the joint and the incorrect ankle of the bone are realigned and repositioned.
